The new Forfatterhuset kindergarten in Copenhagen, designed by the Danish architects COPE in cooperation with the landscape architecture studio PK3 and engineering firm D.A.I., is characterized by its rounded shapes.
COBE created the striking façade of the day-care centre with vertical brickwork slats which not only protect the privacy of those inside, but also serve as protection from glare. The vertical lines are continued throughout the interior. The spaces here, done in a quiet shade of white, are arranged around the stairways, which are surrounded with vertical white poles. The kindergarten comprises five buildings of various sizes and a rooftop terrace. It opened recently and now offers space for 160 children up to 6 years of age.
