Urban farming is a fascinating topic – and this modular system is particularly suitable for both farming and animal husbandry on small areas.
Actually, the terms ‘farming’ and ‘animal husbandry’ may be a bit exaggerated here – but all the same, the Daily Needs Modular Chicken Coop and Garden, designed by the Belgian studio Segers, provides enough space for a couple of chickens and vegetable patches. In fact, the raised beds make it possible to work without over straining your back.
The system also includes a compost box and a trunk for tools. Studio Segers, which has just won a Henry van de Velde Awards & Labels 2013 distinction, is a two-generation company founded by Rita Westhovens and Wim Segers. Since 2009, their son Bob Segers has also worked in the family studio, along with Marjan Brants.
